Support for 18 to 21 year olds who have been in care
The 18+ Care Leavers Service is here to help young people make the move from living in care to enjoying independent life as an adult. We can support young people from age 18 to 21 and this can continue where the young person remains in education, including up to age 25.
The 18+ Care Leavers Service is part of Birmingham Children's Trust and through our links to organisations in the community we can help with access to housing, education and training, work experience and health services.
What we do
We provide a friendly and supportive service that means young people are not on their own. The level of service we can provide depends on individual needs but in general we can provide help with:
- Finding somewhere suitable and safe to live
- Helping with finding education, training, work experience or a job
- Help with managing money and accessing the financial support needed
- Advice on keeping healthy and accessing health services
- General advice and guidance if problems occur
With an Aftercare Advisor and a Pathway Plan we will provide a good service that meets young peoples’ needs.

We have a drop-in service, open 8:45am to 5:15pm (Monday to Thursday) and 8:45am to 4:15pm (Friday):

When you arrive: Ask the friendly reception staff, as you go in, to let the 18+ duty team know you would like to see a Personal Adviser. Reception will call us and a team member will come to reception to see you. We have access to a quiet space where you can speak in confidence.

Buses to use: The main bus routes are the Number 65 and 67, both go from the city centre. These buses will drop you right outside One Avenue Road, and the Number 8 route crosses nearby. The 65 and 67 buses go from outside the large B&M store in the city centre.

Walking here From Birmingham New Street Station: There are a number of pedestrian routes you can take from New Street Station to get to One Avenue Road. This is the most direct route that follows a designated pedestrian path from the station, all the way through to the office and is well lit
