Birmingham Skills Centre Construction Courses

Birmingham Skills Centre has the following 3 construction courses starting in January:

4-week construction gateway programme, which is for those who need a CSCS card and relevant qualifications and basic knowledge to get out on site and into work.

1-week construction gateway programme, which is for those who have had past experience in construction and just need their CSCS card.

2-week course for those who already have a CSCS card and need some further qualifications and guidance into work.

4-Week CSCS Construction Gateway Programme (Aged 19+)

No previous construction experience needed. The 4-Week Construction Gateway Programme is a fantastic opportunity for candidates to go from no construction experience, to gaining a CSCS Card and a range of H&S Certs. Followed by 1 week of work experience opportunities with partner employers. The on-site practical area will give learners the skills and basic practical knowledge to put them in a prime position to join the construction industry, linking with companies looking to take on candidates.  

• Green Labourers CSCS Card
• Mental Health in Construction Certificate
• Asbestos Awareness Certificate
• Working at Heights Certificate
• Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment
• Entry 3 Award in Environmental Awareness and Sustainability
• 1 Week On-site Work Experience
• Guaranteed Job Interview

1-Week CSCS Construction Gateway (Aged 19+)

This programme is a fantastic opportunity for those who are looking to gain their CSCS card quick and get the basic knowledge and certificates within construction. Coming out of this course, it will put them in a good position to gain employment as they will have linked up with employers and gained the qualifications they need to get out on site.

• Entry 3 Award in Environmental Awareness and Sustainability
• Mental Health in Construction

2-Week Construction Programme (Aged 19+)

This programme is a fantastic opportunity for those who already have a CSCS card but need to get some more knowledge and qualifications to get out on site and into work. On the course, it will allow them to improve their CVs with extra qualifications and experience and put them in a better position to get into employment within the industry. After the course, they will then be given the opportunity of an interview with local employers that we work with.

Eligibility

• Customers must be aged 19+ (as of 31st Aug 2024) 
• Lived in the UK for 3+ years (excluding Refugees)
• Must achieve Entry 2 Maths and English at the Enrolment Day Initial Assessment
• Resident in the West Midlands

Candidates will need to bring to the Enrolment Day:

• Valid Photo ID (Passport, Driving/Provisional License, Citizens Card) 
• National Insurance number  
• Proof of universal credit/earnings below £35,000 per annum 
• Proof of Address
