Early Help: Payment for historic family outcomes

Birmingham Children’s Trust and the Birmingham Education Partnership are launching a new way to evidence family outcomes for families that schools have completed early help work with historically. The income generated from this process helps fund the Early Help system and preventative services that the Trust provides.

Current Early Help work should still be recorded on ECINS. Historic work can be submitted by completing an Excel spreadsheet. The speadsheet here is blank, and you may submit up to 30 families per sheet and return to TFData@birminghamchildrenstrust.co.uk.

There is also a partially completed mock template below, so you have a guide of how to complete the form.

For a successful claim, at a minimum:

  • Family must have been worked with in the last 2 years.
  • Families must present 3 out of the 10 needs in the Think Family Outcomes Framework.
  • All needs, including emerging needs, must have been resolved.
  • Families should have been supported by a whole family assessment plan – these can take many forms including 3 houses/case recordings on relevant systems.
  • Case can only be submitted to DFE after being closed for 6 months.

This is a simplified process aimed at reducing the work required to submit Early Help work for families you are not currently supporting. The new form also requires indications of the work required. We have had confirmation from DFE that if the form is submitted correctly, we will not have to request further information from yourselves.

Only one payment can be made per family, so some of the families you submit may had a successful family outcome by another agency previously.

For each successful family outcome, a payment of £250 will be made.

A blank copy of the form is available below, however, if you would also like to receive a prefilled form(s) with pupils that have passed attendance criteria please contact: TFData@birminghamchildrenstrust.co.uk.
