Birmingham Children’s Trust announce new Director of Practice

Jenny leaves her role as Senior Her Majesty’s Inspector for Ofsted to succeed the Trust’s current Director of Operations, Alastair Gibbons.

Andrew Christie, Chair of Birmingham Children’s Trust said:

“We are delighted that Jenny has agreed to join Birmingham Children’s Trust at such an exciting time. We owe a huge debt to her predecessor, Alastair Gibbons, who is retiring after leading improvement in the service so effectively over the last three years..

“We are confident Jenny’s energy and experience, as a service leader and in her roles in Ofsted, will bring what the Trust is looking for on the next stage of its journey. We had a strong field of applicants for the role and we are grateful to everyone who was interested in joining the Trust.”

Jenny has an extensive social work background, having served as an Ofsted Social Care Inspector, and as a Local Authority Assistant Director and Head of Service. 

A graduate of Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Salford, Jenny said:

“I am delighted to be offered this key role within the Birmingham Children’s Trust. I am committed to supporting our social care workforce to ensure that they have the support to deliver the best possible services to the children and young people of Birmingham.

“I look forward to working with fellow Trust board members, the council, our partners, and children and young people.”
At Jenny’s interview the Trust’s interview panel included five young people from the Birmingham’s Children in Care Council and Care Leavers’ Forum.

Jenny will take over responsibility for all areas of children’s social work at the Trust in early September.
