Fostering, it’s not about the hello, it’s about the whole journey
Watch our new film to find out more about the challenges and rewards of fostering.
Together with 14 local authorities across the West and East Midlands, Birmingham Children’s Trust has launched a new short film called ‘Truth be told’.
The five minute film looks at the true stories of three siblings and their foster carers. It briefly and honestly captures the highs and lows of fostering.
Andy Pepper, Assistant Director of Children in Care Provider Services at Birmingham Children’s Trust, said:
“Foster carers can transform the lives of the children they care for. Being a foster carer does have its challenges but it is also extremely rewarding when you see the positive difference you make to the lives of children and young people.”
Truth be told - fostering film
The film explores the world of teenager Carl, his carer and his two younger sisters, Toni and Leah, who are cared for by a same-sex couple. This small snapshot into their lives gives a hint of their history as well as some of the challenges faced by foster carers. Most importantly, it looks at the great connection, personal progress and depth of love that can come when foster carers support a child or young person through adversity.
Fostering stories may begin with a hello, but that’s just the beginning of a complex and ultimately rewarding journey.
