Why we collect this data

We collect and use your personal data in many different ways, depending on how you interact with the Trust. 

Each service area in the Trust, may collect, share and store your information in a unique way in order to best deliver a service to you. 

The Trust relies on several different lawful bases for processing personal data. Service specific lawful bases can be found on the Service Level Privacy Notices page.  The most commonly relied upon lawful bases are:

  • Public task
  • Legal obligation
  • Consent

We process personal information to enable us to provide information, advice, guidance social care, and support to children, young people and families including the development of policies and procedures for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

We also process personal information to enable us to manage children and young people subject to an offending prevention programme as part of either a voluntary arrangement or a statutory order.

Personal data is also processed to promote our services, maintain our accounts and records, share information with associated agencies, and to support and manage our employees.

CCTV data is processed to help the prevention and detection of theft and damage and to support the health and safety of staff and people using our services.

We process information relevant to the above reasons/purposes. This may include:

  • family, lifestyle, and social circumstances
  • financial details
  • employment and education details
  • goods or services provided

We also process sensitive classes of information that may include:

  • physical or mental health details
  • racial or ethnic origin
  • religious or other beliefs of a similar nature

Legal reasons for collecting personal data

There are a number of legal reasons why we need to collect and process your data. These include:

  • Performing our public functions providing Childrens’ Services.
  • Assisting other government organisations with performing their public functions.
  • Carrying out our legal and contractual obligations, and continuously improving the quality of our services through research and analysis.

  • Protecting the vital interests of individuals such as the safeguarding of adults or children.

To comply with legislation and statutory guidance, as well as to safeguard the welfare of our service users, we sometimes need to share the personal information we process with the individual themselves and also with other organisations.

Your rights
